Firstly it is actually not even a grass. It's a unique perennial related to the Lily of the Valley plant.
This plant is very easy to care for, durable, and trouble free. Excellent ground cover plants.
The distinctive black foliage makes this an excellent plant for rock gardens and border edging, and for highlighting lighter coloured (yellow & silver folaiged) plants.
It looks great, growing in a planter. Excellent between pavers.
Black Mondo Grass can grow to about 25cm tall, and will slowly spread to about 60cm.
Loose spikes of small, light pink or white, bell shaped flowers appear in mid summer, followed by small black berries.
Mondo grass should be grown in partial to full shade, but can withstand full sun in cooler areas, if they receive sufficient water.
